The conference announcing the launch of the “Woman, Life, Freedom Inclusive Network” is now taking place as part of the effort to form a “Coordination and Leadership Council.” I’ll write more about this later.
This initiative was formed in response to a call from inside the country in June 2025 to create a “Coordination and Leadership Council,” and it presents itself as a continuation of two earlier texts: the “Charter of Minimum Demands of Independent Trade Union and Civil Organizations in Iran” and the “Charter of the Progressive Demands of Women in Iran.”
The main goal is to hold a broad national conference to create a pluralist political alternative in the path toward overthrowing the Islamic Republic and moving through a transition period.
The charter says the council is meant to build a link between forces inside and outside the country, prevent top-down political projects and the return of individual-centered or one-party structures, and create the conditions for coordinated political action.
In its basic principles, it also stresses the complete end of the Islamic Republic, the end of sexual and gender apartheid, the abolition of execution and torture, the freedom of all political and conscience prisoners, unconditional freedom of thought and expression, separation of religion from the state, and equal rights without discrimination.
In explaining the nature of this council, the charter says that “leadership” here means collective guidance based on the combined strength of different forces, not concentration of power or acting as a guardian over others. It also defines cooperation in this framework as voluntary.
Each group keeps its political and organizational independence, sharing resources is optional, and in case of disagreement, the principle is dialogue and voluntary withdrawal, not binding commitment. This document was drafted in January 2026.
